The problems are real, though. The fabric is easily punctured by dog nails. I've sewn up more rips in this mat than I can count. One reviewer spent their entire review describing their sewing process to keep the punctures from growing.
It's also slippery on hard floors, so you'll want a rug underneath unless you enjoy watching your dog slide across the kitchen.

The Contender: WNPETHOME Orthopedic Washable Dog Bed

The cooling gel layer actually works. Champ has been sleeping on this for six weeks now, and he stays on it even on warm nights.
The foam is the weak point. It's thinner than I'd like, maybe 3 inches, and it's not dense enough for a senior dog. Penny tried it once and gave me a look that said "this isn't for me." She's not wrong.
